Why I Built Health Worth

I'm Trisha Rawlings, and I've spent more than 20 years inside how healthcare actually gets priced and paid - in payment integrity, making sure claims are accurate, and in transparency-in-coverage work, the same framework Health Worth is built on.

I've watched how difficult it is, even for experts, to get a straight answer about what care costs. Patients almost never see the full picture: not just the bill in front of them, but the cost of waiting, the lost workdays, and the impact on quality of life.

I built Health Worth to put that whole picture in one place, in plain language, for the people who have to live with the decision.

Invisible illness is a core use case: diagnostic delay, disability, and lost functional capacity can reshape a life even when those costs never appear on a bill.

What We Stand For

Built on Credible Data

We use trusted national sources and transparent methodologies to estimate both healthcare costs and real-world impact.

Transparent by Design

We show our assumptions, sources, and methods so users understand how estimates are calculated.

Shows Both Directions

Most healthcare tools only show treatment costs. Health Worth also helps people understand the potential cost of waiting.

Decision Support, Not Medical Advice

Health Worth is designed to help people ask better questions and have more informed conversations with healthcare professionals.

A Personal Note

Healthcare decisions are some of the most important - and expensive - choices people make.

My goal isn't to tell anyone what decision to make.

It's to help people see the full picture before they decide.

- Trisha

Built with lived experience

Medical claims rarely capture missed work, transportation, caregiving, reduced daily function or the practical consequences of delayed care. Health Worth is designed to make those effects visible alongside medical costs.

Health Worth’s shared framework was informed by 30 initial survey responses: five qualitative and twenty-five quantitative. Findings informed revisions before condition-specific review began.

The revised framework and journeys then received 18 condition-specific patient-review contributions across asthma, depression, type 2 diabetes, migraine and throat cancer. Reviewers assessed journeys related to conditions they live with, and their feedback was incorporated into the experience.

These were formative product-research and patient-review activities. They were not clinical research, clinical validation, health-economic validation or evidence that Health Worth improves clinical or financial outcomes. Counts are responses and review contributions, not verified unique participants. Individual journey pages identify their current validation status.
